Things I really no longer like :-(
Three weeks ago it was my daughters 7th birthday (Alyssa). And for the first time I was not there. Not because I did not want to be, basically because it was a Tuesday and I was at work in Sydney. It is times like that I really hate this commuting between Yass and Sydney, and subsequently having the three days spent in Sydney.
Anyway on the next weekend Alyssa had a party at the local park with some of her friends from school, where we had a BBQ and games were played with the kids. On the agenda was such games as egg and spoon, sack races and balloon races all the “ol fashioned” games. A good time was had by all and no broken bones at the end of it. Lynsey did manage to fall into the river.

Happy birthday Alyssa! My daughter keeps asking if she’s 7 yet, because that’s the legal age she gets to sit in the front seat of the family car. She really wants to sit in the front seat.
We know exactly what you mean about having to work during special family occassions. My husband, Dave, is a Head Chef. You can imagine how our family life always takes second place to work too. It feels like such a crime that it has to be that way. We keep plugging away in hope we can one day, not be dependent on his job. Not in the way we are now.
Anyway, so sorry to hear you didn’t get to be there. It’s heartbreaking but deep down she knows her father loves her a lot. Our kids can be so forgiving of our hectic schedules. Bless ‘em.
